We are a husband-wife team focused on residential new homes, remodels and additions. We are both licensed professionals (Licensed in State of Washington, soon in the State of Oregon) with degrees in Architecture from Washington State University.
- Understanding your situation
First, we listen. What are you trying to achieve? What unique circumstances are you facing? What do you like and dislike in homes? What do you like to do on weekend mornings?
- Analyzing your needs
Then we help you brainstorm your needs. We begin with a questionnaire we have developed to help you think about your home in new and different ways. After you have answered this questionnaire, we write a summary of all we have heard for your approval. This becomes the document from which our work springs.
- Roughing out alternatives
Next we take a quick look at a few alternatives (in very rough form) to get a feel for the budget, size, scope and overall arrangement of the parts and how they fit into the whole.
- Sketch Up the best ideas
Our discussions about alternatives will lead us in a direction that we develop in a 3D computer model to help us visualize the project and discover areas that need more study and refinement. Sometimes we cycle through this process a couple of times as the ideas between us come into sharper focus.
- Developing the design
With agreement on the best alternative to meet your needs, we then prepare well developed floor plans and overall building sections. We like to involve a builder at this stage to get an accurate handle on the cost and construction techniques to make sure we are heading in the right direction and correct our course if necessary.
- Detailed drawings for construction
With a floor plan, building sections and an estimate of probable costs from a builder, we then coordinate any required engineering services and develop the drawings and specifications that are necessary to get a building permit and final price from the builder.
- Construction collaboration
During construction, we remain involved with you and the builder to ensure that good decisions are made on the job site and you get the best home possible.
